Resources you could use in your Lesson Design

Hi FamiLEE,

This week's blog post is about Mind Missions, Grab-and-Go Math Resource, and Readtheory.org that you could use in your lesson design.

Mind Missions:

Each designer has Mind Missions (red box in your storage room/closet) This is a GREAT resource to integrate Social Studies and ELAR. This resource is learner-driven that allows them to problem-solve creatively, work collaboratively, and engage in Social Studies Learning as they explore events and people from the past.

Each "Mind Mission Activity" has Teacher Instructions that are easy to follow and set up. The learners then brainstorm, read a story, get their team bags with mission cards inside, and then are timed to "complete their mission". They have great reflective questions at the end of each mission to assess their learning.

I would LOVE to come into your space and do this with your kids! Please book me! :)

Grab-and-Go Math:

A couple of weeks ago, Ashley passed out red rectangle bags labeled "Grab and Go" Math Resources to your design studios. I started digging through one of these with a designer, and discovered the Math Readers. This is a GREAT way to integrate Math and Reading together. There are an abundance amount of math readers, activities, and games for each grade level. If you have a high/below group, consider looking at the other grade's kit! *YAY for Vertical Teaming!* If you are interested in using this in your Math or Reading block, please book me to support you getting started with this resource. :)

ReadTheory.org:

I learned about a (3-5th grade) reading website from another Instructional Coach. It is called readtheory.org. You are able to create a class of your learners, have them take a pre-test on reading, and then they are assigned passages based on their needs. This will assess them with rigorous questions about each passage. Finally (my favorite part! :)) The website will analyze your class' data and give you feedback on which area to focus on with your learners. Book me to learn more about this website!

Please continue to book me to support you in anyway I can! Have a great week!
