First Week Down!

Year 4 is up and going! You all survived your first week! It was fun seeing all the team building and the excitement of activities this week throughout the building.

Our career is a GIFT.

-A gift to the learners to who you will start a learning fire that will burn for their lifetime.

-A gift to their parents who need help getting their kids to LOVE to learn.

-AND a gift to all of us, the foundation you build will help these kids and our country be strong when they enter the work world!

You all are doing important work, and remember to have FUN while you are doing it!! You are making a DIFFERENCE!

As you begin your Beginning Of the Year Assessments (The Window is Aug 21 - Sept 24) (DRA, HFW, I-STATION, WRITING, Math Screener) Please PLEASE book me here, and let me help you find time to get these done. I remember how time consuming they all are, and I would love to partner with you and help in anyway.

If you would like for me to meet with your during your planning time/before or after school to go over HOW to assess these, how to input them into AWARE, or how to use the Notability APP to be paperless- please let me know- and I would be happy to meet with you!!

Just a few reminders about assessing DRAs:

-Designers are to not test more than one grade level ahead (The purpose of the DRA is to take their learning deeper and wider and not higher and higher- we want to find the gaps not maximize)

-If you test a learner on a NONFICTION DRA text, input the level of the nonfiction + 1 in Aware and Report Cards. (For example, if your learner read Level 16 Baby Birds, you would input it into AWARE and REPORT CARDS as a level 17)

-Report learners' INDEPENDENT levels on Report Cards

-Use learners' INSTRUCTIONAL levels to group learners for instruction

-Here is where you can find instructions on how to access your learners' EOY DRA's

-Here is where you can learn how to do DRAs on the Notability App

Math Screeners:

Universal Screener administration, scoring, and reporting information for educators are available on this video.

If you have any questions- please let me know, and I will email Mary/Diana!

Have a FABULOUS weekend!!
