Meaningful Interactive Read-Alouds Refresher on: Grammar Talks & Tapping out with Tiles
Making Interactive Read-Alouds Meaningful in all grades
This week I started using a resource with a couple of Kinder designers and 2nd grade designers to help design meaningful interactive read-alouds. There were times, I used to grab a book and completely wing my IRA when I taught a reading strategy, and it was sometimes frustrating not being able to find a perfect book that went along with the reading strategy I was teaching- and I WISHed I had known about this resource!
This resource is for every grade. It aligns every reading strategy to a read-aloud (and more!). It offers ideas of WHEN to stop in your read-aloud book and gives great questions to ask your learners that go along with your reading standard that you are teaching. (Quick way to put your sticky notes in your book!)
It also offers a reflection piece, a reader's theatre, a poem, etc. that connects to the story. THERE'S MORE- it also has an extension and assessment piece. You can track your learners' growth on the reading skills with the quick assessment that goes along with the IRA.
I would LOVE to come meet with you during your conference, before or after school, or during your grade level's planning to explore this resource more and help you utilize it in your reading block! OR if you want me to explore this resource with your team during your team time focus on Learning- I would be HAPPY to do so! You can check this resource out from the Broadcast Studio from Melinda!
